1) Senior Scientist, Pharmacology – 1 year contract position (San Francisco Bay Area) H28BO
DESCRIPTION:
Direct and coordinate functional activities and provide technical expertise in preclinical studies relating to ischemia/reperfusion injury (renal disease and tissue protection) utilizing internal capabilities and outsourcing. Screen select NCEs, study mechanism of action and interpret of PK/PD relationships. Position reports to: Executive Director, Pre-Clinical Development.
Duties:
- Plan, perform and evaluate in vivo efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetic studies in animal models of tissue protection
- Design and execute mechanism of action studies using novel peptides in animal models of tissue protection
- Provide pharmacological expertise, interpret/present experimental results and contribute to multi-functional project teams.
- Provides analysis and interpretation of data; write study reports and presents data effectively in all settings and with participants of all levels within the organization.
- Author abstracts and publications for submission to leading conferences and journals
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Pharmacology, Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline with 10 years of industry experience and a successful track record in drug discovery and development.
- Excellent written communication is a required.
- Experience in animal pharmacology models of diseases is essential, including in depth knowledge of reperfusion injury and/or related models and the design, conduct and interpretation of studies.
- Independent and able to manage multiple responsibilities and work in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to function in an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Functional familiarity with animal husbandry and animal health and welfare practices
- Computer literate in Microsoft PC environment.
